Create a new mural in Granton, Edinburgh
We would like to commission an artist to create and mount a mural which will be permanently displayed at the entrance of Speirs Bruce Way in Granton, Edinburgh.

About the event
The mural is to be approximately 2x6m. It is to be painted onto boards, weatherproofed and graffiti proofed, then mounted to the corrugated iron fence which is part of the boundary of Granton Castle Walled Garden. We would like the mural to speak to the local history and culture of Granton and should reflect the thoughts and ideas of local people and community groups (consultation currently underway). It will be seen from a distance and is in a wooded area, so the design should consider this. Photos of the space can be provided upon request. The artist will be able to use space at granton:hub to work in, if required. As this space is in use by others throughout the week, times of use will be discussed and agreed between the artist and granton:hub. We estimate that it would take 1-2 weeks, depending on the hours of the artist. The completion deadline is 31st March. The fee is £2500. Fee is inclusive of VAT, all materials, transporting and mounting the work. Granton:Hub is a Community Arts and Heritage Venue. This funding is through the Sustrans ArtRoots Fund. Applications will be shortlisted and we will contact the shortlist for a discussion with a panel of people who represent local community groups and spaces. The panel will choose an artist from this shortlist.
