About the event
Join us for a leisurely walk with historian Kenneth Williamson, discovering the hidden gems of Granton's historic and industrial past. From medieval times through the industrial age and into the future, this small tour highlights Granton's heritage. Spanning quarrying to castles and electric cars, Granton has been at the forefront of bringing innovation and wealth to Edinburgh. While most of its industries have now vanished, we hope to keep its heritage alive in describing what was once a hive of activity. The walk will take around 1.5 hours at a leisurely stroll, is wheelchair/pram/bike friendly. The tour will have a maximum capacity of 15. We charge a small fee (£2.50 + eventbrite fee) to cover tea/cofee and biscuits. After the walk, participants are invited to visit a community exhibition at granton:hub, hosted in partnership with Edinburgh College of Art.
