About the event
Here's some information about Alan and his work:
Hi I am Alan, a 48 year old neurodivergent Edinburgh born artist, I first started experimenting with art 2017, I was in a very low mental state and isolating at home frequently the abstract art I created back then was at beginner level and interesting, it has helped me manage my mood to a more positive mindset this was all before my ADHD and Autism diagnosis (2021/ 2023). I have gained a huge sense of calm and feeling of being accomplished at something in my life with the amazing I have created over the years it’s a way of giving back to my community also giving me a feeling of purpose. I have been kindly donated all this old shelving from the arts community project (The Wee Hub) the was left in the former Debenhams store in Ocean Terminal, I experimented with a few lamps for a fashion show last year with ( The Remakery ) and it was received by the public really well, I live with adult ADHD and am on a settled medication for this, using self-taught art therapy in my daily routine has been beneficial for low mental health and challenging triggers I face, I hope to make more zero waste lamps to showcase within other support services such as ( passing the baton the Bethany trust, The Wee Hub and others in the future. I have been in touch with these organisations, and they are keen to engage with me for future projects.
